ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS
About twenty years ago, there was a craft peculiar to every region in our country. In one of our regions, a melody of the hand weaving looms in the small weaving ateliers established in the cellars of every house was raising. While Ayse aunts were weaving fabric as changing hundreds of shuttles throughout the whole day, in another region of us Uncle Ali was making shoes by sewing the leather as dyeing the leathers with the madder which he obtained from the pomegranate leaves and sewed them in his hands. In another region of us, the melody of the processing of the coppers were raising from the small atelier of Master Ahmet. In another region of us, the soil sang song when it met with the water which would bring it together with the clay stiffness. It would become a pitcher as dancing in the hand of Master Mehmet, it would become a coffee pot, it would become a coffee cup, it would become a crock. The Fatmas were embroidering the glazed tiles just like embroidering their dowries. Women dressed up with the pinked accessories which they themselves weaved as loop by loop.
20 years ago, there were streets of weavers, copper smiths, tile-makers and hand printed scarve sellers In each town which was famous with the craft peculiar to its own, the melody of this craft was heard; it was as if these melodies were screaming as “labor, labor” in the streets. When you looked at a product which was made by the masters, you would see not only an object but also how the grace is embroidered with labour as loop by loop. The mastery continued throughout the generations from the mother to her daughter, from the father to his son.
Today, it is hard to hear this melody which echoes in every street anymore. Now, you can listen to the melody echoing as ‘labor, labor,’ from a few persons who resist for sustaining this art in towns. Maybe, these are the las echoings of the melody of ‘labor’ in a few lucky streets.
We have taken road for laying claim to our cultural heritage, to bring these values together with you and motivating the new generation to this craft. The 80% of our product range are the hand labor of aunts Ayşe, Fatma, the girls named such as Zeynep and so on as well as the uncles of Ahmet, Mehmet.
