Uses nutrition to directly alter the palatability of blood : Ticks and biting insects are temporary parasites to the host and feed off the blood. If unpalatable, they will seek an alternative host
Contains various sulphur and herbal extracts that combine and pass out through the sweat to alter the “acid mantle” : Creates an unpleasant aroma close to the animal all over the body, all of the time. This makes the animal less attractive to nuisance flies and insects
Contains constituents that sequesters and protects the active compounds : These compounds are delivered to the targeted tissues where they will have the most effect
Contains active ingredients for skin integrity : Work as an anti-inflammatory and astringent helping to reduce scratching and irritation from bites
Certain compounds end up in the faeces which discourages flies from laying eggs : Certain ingredients effect the outer shell of laid eggs “thickening” it thus stopping larvae hatching
