Gedik Holding laid its foundation with Gedik Welding, which was established by Halil Kaya Gedik in 1963 as a manufacturer of welding consumables. Gedik Welding successfully continued its commercial activities over the years and became the leader in its sector. By adding many sectors such as casting, valves, capital markets, and training between the fields of activity, Gedik Holding has taken its place among the most fundamental and respected institution in Turkey.
Gedik Holding, which employs more than 1500 people, has grown with the emphasis on innovation and investment, and has become a community that can keep up with every economic condition and change.
In order to diversify Gedik Welding and Gedik Casting products that are in demand all over the world, Gedik Holding has established a brand new and modern facility on area of 262.000 m² in the Sakarya, Hendek region.
Gedik Educational Foundation (GEF) in connection with Istanbul Gedik University was established in 1994in order to contribute to education in general and specifically to the development of welding technology in Turkey. GEF has assumed all kinds of activities and initiatives in this area as a social responsibility, and has carried on multi-dimensional studies with the Ministry of National Education, institutions of higher education and private sector organizations since it was founded. In addition, a number of projects have been realized with the support of GEF, such as schools, dormitories, vocational training centers and educational institutions providing services for disabled.
Presently there are 6 faculties, 3 institutions, 1 vocational school, 8 research and application centers and the school of foreign languages at Istanbul Gedik University.
