Prevention of the human rights violations is the most important duty of the International Law in the World. Foreigners who are within the Turkish borders have various rights and responsibilities and residence permits render legal to residing in Turkey for foreigners within the context of these rights and responsibilities.

Residence permit means that the permit issued for the purpose of staying in Turkey, according to the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458 (LFIP). This permit, issued by competent authorities, give the right to stay in our country and right to live in certain place for a certain period of time to the foreigner. The residence permit which has importance for ensuring the public order and protecting it, will be issued by the authorities upon the application of the foreigner with the proper documents and foreigner has to be carrying out the requirements of the residence permit type.

6 types of residence permits are regulated under article 30 of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458.
